Get Funked!
Welcome to Par3 our new Sunday residency
Par3 is a new project from Scott Saunders, founder of dig (directions in groove) that created a distinctly Australian Jazz Funk style, signed with Verve Forecast, received a gold record and 2 APPRA awards and, played at international Jazz Festivals. Par3 is a classic soul jazz organ trio that takes stylistic cues from artists of the 60s/70s like Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Grant Green, Wes Montgomery, Lonnie Smith, and Jack McDuff etc who synthesised Jazz, Soul, R&B, Blues, Gospel, Latin and Pop into an exciting new style.
This is music that is joyous, soulful, and most importantly, it grooves. The trio features Saunders on organ and vocals writing original songs with smart socially aware lyrics and individual style inspired by writers such as Mose Allison, Gil Scott-Heron and old masters Cole Porter and Ira Gershwin.
Saunders is ably accompanied by the scintillating beats of Ivan Jordan, one of the grooviest, most versatile and in demand drummers around town, and the super smooth and ultra-tasteful stylings of Sam Rollings on guitar. These are three highly experienced and in demand Jazz-groove exponents on the Sydney scene who all have impressive and extensive CVs working with a long list of celebrated artists. The repertoire comprises originals, mixed with vintage funky organ Jams, and reinvented covers of classic pop songs.
This is a logical extension of the dig ethos that took jazz to the dance floor and made it accessible to the widest possible audience.
Make it stand out.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
